About UsMany generations of families have worshiped here and still
do. As Lutherans, we are committed to sharing the Gospel of Jesus
Christ especially through Word &
Sacrament. We study and preach God’s Word and offer the
sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion to all. We
baptise
infants, children, youth and adults. Contact the pastor if you
wish to pursue Christ’s call through Baptism for yourself or for a
child in your care. (Also see About Baptism.) Holy Communion is usually offered on the first, third and fifth Sundays of the month in addition to Festival Sundays and other special occasions. See the home page for details on our worship services. We are part of the Eastern Synod
within the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC). We are also in a full communion
relationship with the
Anglican Church of Canada and all Anglicans are especially welcome at
St. Peter's. Where We LiveUsing data from 2007, here is the breakdown of our family units:
ProgramsOur Sunday School
is
very active with 9 different classes to cover our young Christian’s
needs. We are currently using teaching material from David C
Cooke. Each Sunday the children gather in the basement for a
Sunday School Opening which includes: announcements, recognizing
children’s birthdays, welcoming visitors, taking up an offering,
talking about the theme of the day and praying the Lord’s Prayer
together On Holy
Communion Sunday’s those children that wish to share in the meal are
invited to the sanctuary in time to participate in the
sacrament. On Family Sundays,
usually on the first Sunday of the month, we offer a more inclusive
worship service for all the family and for all of our generations to
worship together. There is no Sunday School on Family Sundays. Holy Communion is usually part of our Family Services. Our Confirmation Program runs from September to May ending with a confirmation service usually on the Day of Pentecost. This is typically for grade 8 students and we include teaching about the Lutheran doctrine of grace and forgiveness, Luther's Catechism, prayer, service & mission, history of the reformation (who was Martin Luther), We also take trips to other Christian worship services and other faith traditions and also have a Confirmation Camp retreat.
The Evangelical Lutheran Women’s
group (ELW) has an active and engaging program combining
service, fellowship and learning as an active and practical expression
of the gospel. More details on this year's program.
