Pastor's Message - November/December
It
is almost Christmas and much of the society starts to focus on giving
gifts. The commercial side of this gift-giving season seems to be
increasing every year. But many families are now starting to
change their gift giving traditions. Some families choose to give
one gift per person rather than everyone giving gifts to everyone else.
Other families follow the one gift per person idea but then play a fun
game to determine who receives which gift. Then again other
families redirect their gifts to others in need and instead of giving
gifts to each other, they give gifts of money to charities. There
is a real beauty in that form of gift giving. It directs the gift
to where it will have a major impact on someone’s life. That is a
“Christmas for Others”. There are many examples of that kind of “Christmas for Others” giving: I would love to hear about other organisations and ways of giving to others that you are considering.
Peace – Pastor Steve
