Rural Ministry Education Grant

The Rural Ministry Education Grant is a program administered by St. Peter’s, ELCIC, in Brodhagen, Ontario. The primary objective of this operating grant is to send Lutheran seminary students to the biennial R. Alex Sim Rural Ministry Symposium to expose them to the challenges, rewards and opportunities in rural ministry.  St. Peter’s is accepting donations from like minded congregations, and other individuals, who wish to encourage new pastors to work in rural and small town ministry.

Eligibility

A) The recipients of the award will be registered at a seminary in the ordination program with the intention of entering rostered ministry in the ELCIC.

B) Priority will be given to:

1. Those with interest in rural and small town ministry.
2. Interns and third-year students.
3. Those who have not received the award previously.

C) If the applicant has received the award previously, further applications may be considered.

D) Rural ministry and rural living experience are not necessary for this application.

Evaluations of received applications will be handled by a selection committee at St. Peter's. Applicants should read the Application Information document before completing the Application Form.

Making Donations

Donations can be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran church with “Rural Ministry Education Grant” noted in the memo. St. Peter’s Lutheran Church will issue charitable receipts at the end of the year in which the donation is received. A financial report will be sent to donors at the end of the year in which funds are disbursed.  You can read more details about the operation and reporting mechanisms of the Rural Ministry Education Grant in the Operational Guidelines.
